Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 October 2026 · Version 1.38.0This policy explains what the SCOPIEL Chrome extension (“SCOPIEL”, “we”, “us”) and the website scopiel.extention.in collect, why, and the choices you have. We designed SCOPIEL to keep your data on your own device by default and to collect only what a feature needs.
In short: we do not sell your data, we do not show ads, we do not use your data for advertising or creditworthiness, and we do not read your browsing history on our servers. Bookmarks, history and top sites are read on your device only to display them to you.
1. Who we are
SCOPIEL is developed and operated by Harshil Kachhadiya, India (the “developer”). Questions about this policy: support@scopiel.extention.in.
2. Information we handle
| Data | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Account details — your Google account email, name and profile picture, if you choose “Continue with Google” | To sign you in, show your name and avatar, and link your subscription and synced data to you | Google (sign-in) and our database provider, Supabase |
| Notes, note folders, tasks and settings you create | To provide the notes, to-do and personalisation features and to sync them across your devices when you are signed in | Stored on your device. If you are signed in, also synced to Supabase. If you never sign in, they stay on your device only |
| Subscription and payment status (plan, trial dates, order/payment reference) | To unlock paid features and handle renewals and support | Supabase and your chosen payment provider. We never see or store your card, bank or UPI credentials |
| Approximate location (latitude/longitude), only if you press “Enable location” | To show local weather and the city name | Sent directly from your browser to Open-Meteo (weather) and OpenStreetMap Nominatim (city name). Not sent to our servers |
| Search text you type in the search box, if search suggestions are available for the engine you use | To show suggestions as you type | Sent directly to the suggestion service of your selected engine (for example Google or DuckDuckGo). Not sent to our servers. When you search, you are taken to that search engine |
| Website addresses of your shortcuts | To show each site’s icon | The icon request (the site’s domain name) is made to Google’s favicon service |
| Wallpaper images | To display built-in wallpapers | Loaded from Unsplash and Wikimedia, which receive your IP address as with any image request. Wallpapers you upload yourself stay on your device |
| Bookmarks, browsing history and most-visited sites | To show your bookmarks, the history panel, shortcut suggestions and the Ctrl-hover launchpad, and to let you search them | Read on your device only. Never uploaded, shared or stored on our servers |
| Local preferences (theme, clock format, engine choices, pinned notes, wallpaper choice) | To remember how you like SCOPIEL | Browser storage on your device (localStorage, IndexedDB and Chrome extension storage) |
We do not collect your name, email or any identifier unless you sign in. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs in the extension.
3. How we use information
- To provide and operate the features you use (new tab, notes, tasks, timer, sync, weather, search).
- To authenticate you and manage your subscription and free trial.
- To provide support, prevent abuse and fix problems.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell or rent personal data, do not transfer it to data brokers, and do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to SCOPIEL’s single purpose, for personalised or interest-based advertising, or to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
4. Service providers and third parties
We rely on the following providers, each under its own privacy policy:
- Google — sign-in (OAuth), search suggestions, site icons. We request only basic profile information (email, name, picture).
- Supabase — authentication, database and server functions that store your account, synced notes/tasks/settings and subscription records.
- Razorpay, Stripe, PayPal and UPI apps — payment processing. They collect payment details directly; we receive only the outcome and a payment reference.
- Open-Meteo and OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) — weather and city name, only when you enable location.
- DuckDuckGo — search suggestions, only if you select that engine.
- Unsplash and Wikimedia — hosting of built-in wallpaper images.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety and the security of the service.
5. Storage, security and retention
Data in transit is encrypted with HTTPS. Synced data is protected by row-level security so an account can only read its own records. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
Local data stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the extension. Account and synced data are kept while your account is active and are deleted when you ask us to (section 6). Payment records may be retained as required by tax and accounting law.
6. Your choices and rights
- Use it without an account. You can skip sign-in; your notes and tasks then never leave your device.
- Location is optional. It is requested only when you press “Enable location” and you can revoke it in Chrome’s site settings.
- Access, correction, export and deletion. You can export notes from the app (.txt or .html). To access, correct or delete your account and synced data, email support@scopiel.extention.in from your account email; we will act within 30 days.
- Uninstall. Removing the extension deletes its local data from your browser. Synced data on our servers remains until you ask us to delete it.
- Region-specific rights. Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you may have additional rights, including to withdraw consent and to complain to your data protection authority. Email us to exercise them.
7. Children
SCOPIEL is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards offered by those providers.
9. Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs and Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product changes. The date above shows the latest revision, and for material changes we will give notice in the extension or on this site.
